Han pasado 20 años desde que apareciese por primera vez Buffy Summers en televisión. Sarah Michelle Gellar, quien interpretaba a la joven cazadora de criaturas sobrenaturales, alcanzó la fama gracias a su participación en la serie, y no ha querido perderse el cumpleaños de la ficción que tan buenos momentos le ha dado.
En su cuenta de Instagram la actriz ha publicado una imagen de un día de rodaje que ha acompañado con un largo y emotivo texto. "Hace 20 años hoy, tuve el gran privilegio de llevar a Buffy a vuestras televisiones por primera vez", empieza diciendo Michelle Gellar.
"Aunque conocíamos el potencial de la serie, creo que ninguno de nosotros veía el impacto a largo plazo que tendría la serie. Como actor, esperas dejar marca en ese personaje y esperas que sea recordado, pero con Buffy tengo mucho más", continúa compartiendo.
Sarah Michelle Gellar no se olvida de Gail Berman, Joss Whedon y a sus compañeros de reparto, como tampoco se olvida de los principales responsables de que Buffy Cazavampiros se conviertese en una de las series con más éxito y que ha pasado a ser historia de la televisión.
"Gracias a todos vosotros, los fans. Hicimos esta serie para vosotros, y vuestro apoyo ha mantenido a la serie más allá de los siete años que duró. Lo sois todo. Y recordad... 'Si hay un apocalipsis, llámame'", terminaba diciendo la actriz.
20 years ago today, I had the greatest privilege to bring Buffy to your tv screens for the first time. It was a long and challenging road to get there. First the movie, then a passed over pilot presentation, and eventually a mid season time slot on a little known network. That first season, we liked to think of ourselves as the little show that could. While we knew the potential, I don’t think any of us saw the lasting impact our show would have. As an actor, you wish for that one role where you can leave your mark and forever be remembered, with Buffy I got so much more. She’s a feminist challenge to gender hierarchy. Buffy may have been the Chosen One, but I was the lucky one. Thank you to Gail Berman for always believing there was a show in that movie. Thank you to Joss Whedon, for trusting me to give life to one of the greatest female characters ever created. Thank you to David, for always being my Angel. Thank you to James for understanding that while Buffy and Spike may have been love/hate, I have nothing but love for you. Alyson, as any woman knows, you are nothing without the love and support of great female friends, so thank you for being that. Michelle, you will always hold a key to my heart. Thank you to all the incredible actors for seven seasons of amazing performances. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the incredible crew that worked tirelessly (and also really tired) to bring this show to life. And lastly, but most importantly thank you to all of you, the fans. We made this show for you, and your unwavering support has kept this show going long past our seven years. You are everything. EL ÉXITO DE BUFFY
Buffy Cazavampiros, creada por Joss Whedon (Toy Story, Los Vengadores), arrancó su andadura televisiva en 1997 y se mantuvo en antena hasta mayo de 2003.
La trama de la serie gira en torno a Buffy Summers (Gellar), la última 'cazadora', escogida para luchar contra los vampiros, demonios y otras fuerzas de la oscuridad tras la muerte de su predecesora.
Al igual que el resto de cazadoras, Buffy cuenta con un Vigilante, que la instruye, guía y entrena. Además, con un nutrido grupo de amigos, conocidos como scoobies, que le ayudarán a salvar la ciudad.
